The role of Senior Design Engineer is to design best in class bicycle frames, components and accessories from concept through to production ready designs.  You will develop original concepts that can help provide a competitive advantage and contribute to product advancement through the development or adaptation of technology outside of our current capabilities.  You will also provide technical leadership within the engineering team on subjects of testing, kinematics, suspension design, and manufacturing.  Working with Industrial Design is also a key aspect of the Senior Design Engineer’s role as they will seek the Design/Engineering balance that makes our product successful.  You are a surfacing expert and can easily design class-A surfaces as well as review other team members surfacing ahead of tooling release.  


  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or a minimum of 12 years working as a Mechanical Engineer.
  • A minimum of five years designing high volume consumer products, and working with overseas vendors.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with overseas vendors
  • An intimate knowledge of part design for a range of manufacturing processes specifically: injection molding, extrusion, machining, forging and hydroforming. 
  • A working knowledge of carbon fiber composite structures. Ability to develop efficient net part shapes, read lay-up sheets and troubleshoot lay-up issues, bond joint design, insert design.
  • Ability to create engineering drawings, release drawings to vendors for review, revise drawings based on vendor feedback.   
  • An in depth knowledge of bicycle suspension. An understanding of how leverage rates, spring forces and damping forces affect suspension performance.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment and building & testing prototypes.
  • Advanced 3D surfacing skills using Creo.
  • Ability to create, appropriately dimension and tolerance engineering drawings.
  • Ability to perform assembly tolerance stack analysis.
  • Experience with FEA. Ability to combine real world knowledge with test lab results to help validate an FEA model.
  • Experience in the bicycle or outdoor industry.
  • A basic proficiency with hand and machine tools.
  • Ability to work with other members of the design team and use feedback in a constructive way.
  • An intimate knowledge of SCB product line, competitor’s products and industry trends.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend and explain documents in English. Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, in English.
