What you will be accountable for: 

The Supplier Business Manager (SBM) serves as the overall business lead engaging QBP’s Distributed suppliers managing their day-to-day relationship and experience with QBP. The SBM is responsible for understanding each supplier’s objectives, priorities, challenges, and opportunities as well as QBP’s suite of capabilities and supplier services.

The SBM relies on this context to develop a tailored engagement strategy for each supplier and enroll them in relevant QBP services so that together the supplier and QBP achieve the best possible business results. Each Supplier Business Manager is accountable for partnership, functional integration, growth, and profitability measures tied to each of their suppliers. 

The SBM is also responsible for leading communication and collaboration among QBP’s supplier-facing teams, including the wider Sales division, Marketing and eComm teams, Purchasing, Product Strategy, and Product Safety so that QBP delivers on our promise of value-provision. 

  • Manage your supplier’s overall experience at QBP by building and/or facilitating multi-layer, cross-departmental relationships with key stakeholders at each company to drive deeply shared understanding of expectations and opportunities. 
  • Seek out and maintain awareness of your suppliers’ business indicators, including but not limited to: QBP’s share of a brand’s overall sales; their distributor network in the US and Canada; global distribution strategy and unserved markets; 3P marketplace strategy; dealer- and consumer-direct business; sales channel policies in domestic and global markets. 
  • Establish and maintain brand-specific business development plans for each supplier in your portfolio that contribute to QBP’s Distribution segment revenue goals. 
  • Develop and execute brand-appropriate pricing strategies for your portfolio that support QPB’s Distribution segment profitability goals. Negotiate suppliers’ business activity enhancements to meet category and brand-specific targets. 
  • Partner with Marketing and eCommerce teams to align your suppliers’ product launch opportunities and promotional priorities with QBP’s promotional plan; collaborate with QBP’s Distribution Sales team on developing focused sales and marketing plans for select supplier relationships. 
  • Support QBP’s Distribution Purchasing team in achieving corporate inventory turn goals through considered pricing and discount strategies for in-line, end-of-life, obsolete & overstocked and special-buy products. 
  • Negotiate payment terms, discounts, INCOterms, promotional spend, supplier income, return-to-supplier, and opportunity buys with suppliers to ensure preferred outcomes for QBP in each supplier relationship. 
  • Deliver industry-leading data analysis and reporting for overall market, QBP sales, marketing communications and inventory performance commensurate with each supplier’s level of partnership with QBP. 
  • Help suppliers understand QBP’s digital content, product safety, logistical and regulatory compliance requirements and support them in achieving compliance.

What you need to succeed: 

  • Demonstrable sales and relationship-building skills required 
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams to achieve business goals, drive revenue growth and mitigate profitability erosion required 
  • 4-5 years' experience managing multi-level business relationships required; preference for outdoor or adjacent industries 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred 
  • Data-Analysis experience and strong MS Excel skills required; experience with reporting tools, such as SAP Business Objects and/or MS Power BI preferred 
  • Ability to think critically and an innate desire to discover and understand counterparts’ priorities and motivations 
  • Ability to adapt the substance and tone of conversation, negotiation or relationship cultivation to the needs and priorities of one’s counterparts  
  • A competitive streak balanced with a sturdy sense of fairness  
  • Ability to travel internationally and domestically 4 or more times a year. 
  • Ability to sit at one’s desk and use a computer for extended periods of time 
  • Ability to attend and contribute productively at team and cross-functional-collaboration meetings
