Full Time Bike Mechanic

The Bike Union and Coffee, a 501(c)(3) non-profit social enterprise bike shop/coffeehouse in the heart of downtown Omaha, Nebraska, is seeking an experienced bicycle mechanic with service writing/customer service focus. In addition to mechanical work, the candidate will also play a role in organizational programming with youth staff. 

The Bike Union and Coffee provides workforce development and mentoring for young adults that have been impacted by the foster care system. We provide basic job training, financial literacy classes, mindfulness meditation, personal health and wellness classes, GED prep courses, tutoring and host of other core competency programs. 100% of the proceeds generated in our bike shop directly support the programming that we do. This is a great chance to use your skills within the bike industry to make a difference in the lives of young adults with a nationally recognized organization.

Position Responsibilities Include:

-Production mechanic work

-Basic service writing

-Bike shop customer service

-Retail sales 

-Working with and mentoring youth program staff

Our Ideal Candidate has the Following: 

-A minimum of 2 years of professional bicycle mechanic experience 

-Strong attention to detail and organizational skills 

-Strong customer service skills

-Ability to work with young adults in a mentoring setting

-Service writing skills a plus

-Retail sales experience a plus

-Some mentoring or nonprofit experience is a plus
